Prepare the contact, document and payment steps that are difficult to reconstruct during an emergency.
The useful answer first
Call 120 for medical emergency rescue, 110 for police and 119 for fire. Keep a bilingual medication and allergy list, insurer assistance number, passport details and hotel address offline. Travel insurance wording—not the marketing headline—controls exclusions and claim duties. Immigration or overstay problems require prompt contact with the responsible exit-entry authority.
Do not delay urgent care while searching for an “international” facility online, and do not assume the insurer will arrange direct billing. Cultural wellness activities are not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment. If a permitted stay is expiring, waiting for a travel agent or online forum can make the legal position worse.
Stabilise immediate safety first, call the appropriate emergency service and ask the hotel or local contact to state the location in Chinese. Then contact the insurer, preserve receipts and medical records, and notify the relevant authority promptly if immigration status or travel documents are affected.
Separate urgent danger, ordinary illness, insurer administration and immigration consequences. The nearest appropriate emergency care may not be an international clinic, and insurer approval should not delay life-saving action. Cultural wellness, acupuncture or herbal discussion is not a replacement for diagnosis. A stay problem needs the exit-entry authority, not a medical or travel-marketing answer.
A guide or coordinator can call, translate location, contact the insurer and help preserve records. Diagnosis, treatment, official immigration decisions and claim outcomes remain with the responsible institution. A proposal should state emergency contact and insurance responsibility without implying clinical or legal authority.
